promoting local sustainability & inspiration for the future generation

Pā‘ina by Ocean is a project with humble beginnings, starting all from an idea to inspire the youth, the kids of my generation, to feel as passionate as I do about cooking and the industries intertwined.

A multi-faceted platform, Pā‘ina by Ocean provides simple cooking tutorials and short farm-tour segments visiting local farmers located on Hawai'i Island. These videos bring you along on my exploration in the kitchen while also lending insight to the people who make fresh foods possible. Our most recent addition, an Online Farmer's Market, offers the opportunity for Hawai'i Island residents to purchase curated “Pā‘ina Bags”—pre-assembled bundles of fresh, nutritious local produce and other specialized foods that is sold to our community at a minimal cost while simultaneously moving products for our local farmers.

My mission has always been education and awareness, and during these uncertain times, we have also evolved into an outlet that bridges the gap between Hawai'i Island residents to our farmers, ranchers and fishermen. Culinary on all levels is not possible without these purveyors, and agriculture is not possible without community support. This is our effort to lead a beneficial cause by giving our locals safe, easy access to wholesome foods, while providing farmers with the resources to ensure a foreseeable future.

Born and raised on Hawai'i Island in the small country town of Waimea, I am started this project while in the 8th grade at Waimea Middle School. Now a freshman at Honoka'a High, I enjoy cooking, soccer and fishing, as well as spending time with my family. In 2019, I was recognized as Hawaii Food & Wine Festival’s Keiki in the Kitchen Champion and Hawaii Island’s 2019 Poke Champion.
